Buying A New Affordable Fuel Efficient Car

The idea of owning a new fuel efficient vehicle is great but can you really afford it? Are there really any affordable fuel efficient cars available? In a tight economy we must all weigh our options carefully. Is the gas money we are going to save going to make up for the new car payment? Is the MPG on the new car going to be that much better than my old car? There are many different factors that go into buying a new car, fuel efficient or not. Of those factors price is one of the most important. Looking at price we decided to compile a list of fuel efficient cars you could buy on a budget. The term budget can mean different things to different people. So we found 2008 fuel efficient cars that cost $15,000 or less.

Chevrolet Aveo5
The Aveo5 Special Value starts at $10,895 and has an MPG rating of 24 city/34 highway (manual transmission). The Aveo5 LS starts at $12,680 and has a the same MPG rating with a manual transmission and gets 23 city/32 highway with an automatic transmission.

Chevrolet Aveo Sedan
The Aveo Sedan LS starts at $12,830 and has an MPG rating of 24 city/34 highway (manual) and 23 city/32 highway (automatic). The Aveo Sedan LS starts at $14,580 and has the same MPG rating as the LS.

Ford Focus S Coupe & Sedan
The Focus S Coupe starts at $14,395 and has an MPG rating of 24 city/35 highway with a manual transmission. The Focus S Sedan starts at $14,755 and has the same MPG rating at the coupe.

Ford Ranger XL
The Ranger XL starts at $14,330 and has an MPG rating of 21 city/26 highway (4x2 manual).

Honda Civic DX Coupe
The Civic DX Coupe starts at $14,819 and has an MPG rating of 26 city/34 highway (manual).

Honda Fit
The Fit starts at $13,950 (manual) / $14,750 (automatic) and has an MPG rating of 28 city/34 highway (manual) and 27 city/34 highway (automatic)

Hyundai Accent GS & SE
The Accent GS starts at $10,970 and has an MPG rating of 27 city/32 highway (manual). The Accent SE starts at $14,970 and has the same MPG rating as the GS.

The Mazda3 iSport starts at $14,865 and has an MPG rating of 24 city/32 highway (manual) and 23 city/30 highway automatic.

Mitsubishi Lancer DE
The Lancer DE starts at $13,990 and has an MPG rating of 22 city/30 highway.

Nissan Versa 1.8S Hatch & Sedan
The Versa 1.8S starts at $12,990 and has an MPG rating of 26 city/31 highway (manual) and 24 city/32 highway (automatic).

The smart fortwo pure has a starting price of $11,590 and has an MPG rating of 33 city/41 highway. The smart fortwo passion coupe has a starting price of $13,590 and has the same MPG rating as the pure.
